A car which these days litters college car parks everywhere as the perfect first car, the Fiesta is the longest running production car Ford has ever made.
First released in 1977 the Fiesta is now a staggering 35 years old and in it's seventh generation.
Back when it was released in the 70's it became one of Ford's first mass produced front wheel drive cars as the escorts of the time were still rear wheel drive.
Although apparently new and affordable it failed to take off in the early days of it's production, faced with stiff competition in the form of the iconic Mini, which dominated the small car sector.
In the early days the fiesta had a mere 45bhp with a 0 – 60 time which was better measured with a calender than a watch but now is a little more sophisticated with anything up to 200bhp.
During 90's it became the most sold car in the world for much of the decade, sharing the honours with the Escort and later on the Ford Focus.
Mazda thought it was so good they used a rebranded Fiesta copy as their own supermini, the 121.
Sadly for Ford, although they were the same car, the Mazda proved more popular with it's owners, coming second to it in the JD power survey with owners suggesting the Mazda was more reliable.
It took until the mid naughties for Fords tuning department to be let loose on the Fiesta.
They managed to squeeze a two litre engine into the front of Fiesta, stiffen the suspension, add a new, polished interior and thus the ST was born.
Ford later decided that if you were feeling really quite mad then you could take it tuning company Mountune and have your little Fiesta ramped up further to almost 200 bhp.
The Fiesta reclaimed it's place at the top of the sales charts and has been sitting pretty since 2009.
