Loading... No speed limits
This is probably one of the most famous foreign laws.
The legendary Autobahns in Germany are one of the havens for the motorist and a great way of stretching the legs of all those horses stuffed into your engine.
Roads without speed limits aren’t a purely German concept.
There are some quite close to home on the Isle of Mann but, because of the very obvious safety problems, the UK government thinks they are not a great idea and they may well have a point.
Going over 100mph along the motorway probably isn’t that safe, especially when you consider some of the tin cans that go around British roads.
Still, if you are lucky enough to have a car with a few hundred brake horse power I am sure that you will argue the contrary (just as we would).
Minimum speed limits
Staying with the theme of speed limits we move to the other end of the scale, the minimum speed limit.
This is an altogether more frequent law and is used sparingly in a few countries including In the UK, albeit very occasionally.
However what would be nice is a ‘national minimum speed limit’.
This is altogether more achievable than our last law on the motoring wish list.
There are too many occasions when you are cruising along nicely on a single carriage way road and all of a sudden there is someone in front of you crawling along 20mph below the speed limit.
If only there was a rule to keep them going that bit closer to the speed limit.
If they then don’t feel comfortable doing that speed then they shouldn’t be driving.
