Unfortunately we feel as though we should tell you that the cost of Air conditioning does not stop at the fuel difference.

As with anything on a car the Air Con does need servicing from time to time especially after a lot of hot weather to make sure you haven’t drained the system.

It runs on a certain amount of refrigerated gas and that will sometimes leak through seals or permeate especially when used frequently.

Any number of garages should offer an air conditioning recharge and service and it will set you back around £50.

Alternatively, if you are feeling adventurous then you can do it yourself at home by buying a recharge can available at most car accessory shops.

You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to recharge your air conditioning but make sure that you do consult your car owners manual, just to make sure you don't unscrew the wrong valve!
