Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Past hour
  2. Hi, I have a 2009 Ford Focus, yesterday morning which was absolutely freezing here, I tried to open my bonnet. When I turned the to the left the locked clicked as it always does, then when I turned the key to the right to open the bonnet, it would not budge. So I thought it must be frozen. Drove off to the park to walk my dogs and after walk tried again to open bonnet. Turned key left and, nothing. Turned key right, and nothing. Tried several times but nothing is happening. The temp here yesterday did not rise above 1 degree c. My question is could it be frozen inside or had it more likely broken and if this is the case any idea how much repair/renew will cost?
  3. vibration on clutch pedal

Hi, I have a Ford Focus, much older than your car right enough. It’s a 2009 ex police car with 142,000 on the click. I have vibration through the clutch pedal and in this instance I need a new clutch and flywheel. Hope that’s not the case for you as it’s a very expensive job.
  4. Hello

Hi, just wanted to say hello before I ask a few questions to get the best from my Fiesta. I have had Escorts, Mondeo and Fiestas over the years, with my Fiesta Titanium the nicest to date. Looking to keep for a frw years, so good idea to join the club! All the best. Andy
  5. Snow, ice and snow socks

How long is the hill/lane ? I'm assuming it's private land, if not get your local council to provide a grit bin, and grit it yourself, that's what residents who live near me on a steep hill have to do. Sorry never used snow socks or chains.
  6. Things I Do Like

    Lol .....''All Weather''..........
  7. Snow, ice and snow socks

I bought two pairs of snow socks (one for my Focus and one for my wife`s Yaris) on the recommendation of loads of forums etc. I must admit I`ve never had to use them but yesterday my wife`s car got stuck on the ice covered lane we need to use to access the gritted road. She`d got up about 80% of it but then it was so bad the car ended up perpendicular across the road. I confidently fitted the tyre socks but, I have to say, they didn`t get the car going. I know there`s a clue in the name (SNOW socks) but surely once snow has been compressed by cars it`s more or less ice anyway ? I must confess that frustration caused me to get a bit careless and gave the car too much stick, the socks got ripped and are now U/S after one use ! I can`t understand how that happened actually, the ice meant the tyres didn`t have any traction. Has anyone else had experience of snow socks, in both ice and snow ? Has anyone got any hints as to how to get up the fairly steep ungritted road we need to traverse to get onto the gritted bus route ? Particularly when it`s icy ? I know snow chains would probably work but they`re a load of hassle aren`t they ? Or is there a quick fit set that work and are a reasonable price ?

  9. Year difference Focus ST3 2012 VS 2013^

2015 is the facelift. Cobb is a US company and they tend to use model years one ahead of the actual year over there. So it's probably the same thing 2013/2012
  10. Catback exhaust ?

Hi all! first of all, happy new year 2018 to everyone ! Now, ive been looking foward to change the exhaust, coz i cant even see it lol, and thinking of a catback exhaust coz the whole thing is veeery expensive. But now im not sure if its a worth mod. Its about 500 £ and it seems that only difference is about look and sound? If its so, im not really interested coz i feel its a lot of money for just that. Does it have any better differences ? Ive been looking at milltek one (my fav), cobra, moongoose, and also mountune but not sure if its for 1.0 ecoboost zetec s thats my model car. The main question is, what brand you recommend me and if its really a worth mod. Ive also noticed that its a common mod, so it could be value for money ? currently my car has ITG induction, turbosmart dual port valve and remap from bluefin. Thanks everyone ! Cheers!
  11. Year difference Focus ST3 2012 VS 2013^

Is 2013 not the facelift model? I seem to remember the front numberplate moving from infront of the grill to just underneath it. Also the stereo inside went from the sony version to Fords own. I'm no expert on what the engine/suspension differences are though.
  12. New Tyres Wanted - and you're help

precision balancing, thats when the fitter doesnt bother balancing the wheel and smashes a 15g weight on oposite the tyre valve. seen that happen a few times. lol
  13. as for the wheels, its not uncommon for the alloy wheel to corrode in the centre causing wheel to get stuck on esp if the previous brake checks have been done visually only through the gaps in wheel. alot of garages cut corners and not bother taking wheels off, cleaning corrosion and applying grease to ease removal next time. as for getting the wheels off, they need a good thump from behind with a soft blow hammer/rubber mallet. and if when your refering to rear discs you mean rear drums , remove the two torx screws and either tap the drum face on with a hammer and that will free it , or failing that theres 2 threaded holes in drum opposite the torx srew holes. screw 2 bolts in by hand initialy then screw in with a socket or spanner (both bolts turned the same amount to keep even) and drum will come off. thats assuming the handbrake is off. lol ive been there before a few times wondering why the drum wont come off. ( fellow workers seem it funny to put handbrake on while im not looking)
  14. You said shoes? dont you mean get drum off?
  15. New Tyres Wanted - and you're help

Yes, £3 each on top of the standard balance.
  16. Mk8 Delivery Delays?

Hi, been following this thread for a while and thought I’d join in. I ordered mine mid December, and last time I checked with the dealer it was still down as “confirmed” (there were some other codes I’m unfamiliar with.) Went for a grey ST-Line X 140PS with camera/sensors, door edge protectors, comfort pack, driver assistance pack and B&O speakers. On the order form the dealer went with a worst case of June. Is there a system to check progress or do people keep checking with the dealers? Thanks.
  17. Dash Cam Installation

When you buy a card make sure they have good feedback etc,i had 2of 64gb ones off a person on eBay and all seemed fine,99.7% feedback so had 2 and i always check mine on my p.c for errors and both were faulty,as said above a 64gb turned out to be just under 10 and all the rest was bad sectors so went onto him and refund. Amazon is a lot better as i paid a bit more but was ok and i use Sandisk as well, some cameras are funny with makes and the class,i use class 10 but on a dash cam 6 or 10. I use 2 programs to test mine.........h2testw.........and also ............Fakeflashtest.....
  18. Reverse camera fitted, cheap ones work fine.

I have the genuine mirror one when the other person had my car and had all Genuine one fitted but i just get a blue screen now when i hit reverse as the Fakra connector ford fits to the wires broke at the back so no signal and all others are RCA so i just done it to RCA and run a new lead and snipped the wires and used the power that ford fitted (old ford camera was dead so snipped power wires off that to get the wire and connector all in one and joined them) The TFT screen is only very small 4'' say the same as the radio display on the dash and low down so know one can see it. So yours is one of those that you get the kit for around £70 with the mirror similar to mine,i looked at them but i have a black plastic cover with rain sensor and light sensor and stuff, this is my mirror and my new screen i fitted.
  19. Ford Sync question

If its the old Sync i wouldnt bother as there were hardly any updates and they did nothing of note. Sync 1 & 1.1 is the one with the mono colour screen and the applink apps are all music apps and are all useless! Sync 2 & 3 has colour touchscreen etc and is quite good. If you are desperate for the updates you can get them on utorrent or by buying one of the dodgy Ford TIS CD's on ebay!
  20. Man oh man I have just spent the best part of an hour today trying to get the front wheels off. Took the 4 wheelnuts off but the wheels are welded on i think - even the good old boot to the tyre doesnt shift it. Managed to get one of the rear wheels off (just) - these must be the tightest wheels I have ever had the misfortune to try and remove just to check the brakes. In addition i had to use my Streetkrap car jack and wheelbrace as i have noticed Evans Halshaw never supplied em - I suppose they do this when they give you the tyre filler and no spare tyre - sheez what a pallaver - I used to be able to do this job on my Streetkrap and Rover in 15 mins tops! In addition its almost impossible to get the rear disc off - any ideas? Looks like it needs a slide hammer - soaked the front wheels in wd40 but it looks like there are lever points on the tyre inner rim or is this previous attempts by mechanics to wedge the wheels off with a chisel and hammer? Didnt help doing it in the freezing cold either? Any hints and tips for getting Fiesta front wheeel and rear discs off? I think for the rear disk it will be a case of using some bolts and making up some sort of slidehammer!
  21. That tyre is as bald as a Kojaks napper no wonder you slid on the ice. Trying to be cheap has its consequences!
  22. Key snapped in ignition

Is that reprogram the key with the ecu or program the key at the lock smiths? Sorry iv never had this problems before.
  23. Electrical Problems

wondered if it could be an earth fault or BCM fault, I'm sure the door mirror failed to fold in a few times previously and the keyless entry didn't work around that time. maybe it was last winter. dodgy door loom connector would explain that but the horn... that's just out of top gear
  24. Year difference Focus ST3 2012 VS 2013^

Hi All, I cant find any threads on this so, Im buying a 2012 Focus ST on friday but while looking at cobb tuning access ports & air lift performance suspension and they say that their products are for 2013 and up, I cant find any differences between the 2012 and the other years can anybody help me with ether the differences or if the products will work with my model? (Ive emailed cobb but no response so far)
  25. Hi! Ford Focus ST3 2012

Hi All!, Im picking up my new 2012 Mk3 focus ST3 on friday (red) and am really excited! But ive been looking at more expensive modifications and items i wanna add to it in the future (such as a cobb tuning accessport, and potentially airlift performance suspension) anybody have these?
  26. Yesterday
  27. Generally I'm up for a bit of light hearted tuning, but in this case I'd be inclined to agree. The ST was only £1600 more than the Red/Black edition 140.
