    Hi Micro, Cheers I'll head over and check it out. I did notice that at the time and Eonon 'seemed' to have the least issues. To be fair, with general scouting even at this stage they still seem to be fairly decent taking my issue out of it. I finally received the software update today... and it did nothing lol. It's actually worse with hardly no sound coming from any other speakers bar the front left. At least before I could hear a faint whisper. I've requested a replacement, and additionally requested they send the replacement before I send the faulty unit back to them. As I don't fancy driving around with an empty hole. I'm pretty sure they'll refuse the latter. I know how most of these Chinese companies can be. Will keep you updated all the same. Cheers

It seems odd maybe the remap haveing that effect with poorly maf? white smoke is fuel burning too cool. but its driving spot on with no smoke with a new mass air flow sensor dpf is fine sensor reading are in spec for a clean filter and it would smoke after a minute of quiet driving when cold . Every time that old maf got pluged in bang smokeing again. apparently dpf only trys to regen when its at opperating temp and cooling fans kick in dureing a regen but never has. I will see how it goes for a few weeks and report back may just be a coincidence as it was intermitent then all the time but touch wood its sorted. If not i just gonna chuck it to the nearest diesel specialist. Cars are getting too complicated!

    Worth Googling the registration in case Google picked up the page in May and may either have a cached copy or URL you could feed into archive.org. One lesson learnt though - ALWAYS print out car adverts as they effectively form one part of a contract you are both signing up to.

  8. The PCM drives the ac relay coil. This then goes via C90 (the big connector in the Engine Fuse Box or FJB) to the solenoid. The pressure sensors / switches are connected to the PCM. The wiring diagram is on this site (Mk2 & Mk2a are very similar except for PJB fuse numbers!):

    Don't get your hopes up though - thinking about it if there's one sure way of triggering a module communication error it's removing said module! Worth a try though.

    Thanks for the input guys! I will certainly attempt the gearbox learning procedure with the ABS disconnected. Must admit I didn't think of that. Fairly sure though that all the ECU's need to communicate with each other, but it's certainly worth a try. I have used 2 versions of IDS... V101 and now have the latest V106 which is very reliable. Forscan does give the same fault codes but I mainly use IDS for its reliability. I'll certainly report back when I've tried the gearbox learning. Thank you for your help.

  13. Thanks, will check them out. Some people seem to think it's toe rather than camber but I'm open minded at the mo. Am trying to find sn outfit with a good quality 4 wheel geometry set up local to me to see what the issue is. Funnily enough, I've just changed both trailing arm to body bushes on the 'trouble'n'strife's' Mk3 Galaxy as one was picked up on the MOT. T'was a bit of a mission but just about achievable for the DIYer with the tight tooling. Will endeavour to write up my experiences for the benefit of Mk3 Galaxy / Mk4 Mondeo owners soon.

  16. Mk7 ford fiesta 1.6 tdci smoke

    Has it got a DPF? Could the smoke & raised FRP be connected to a regen? If the DPF is getting a bit full, or there is some fault in the system like perished hoses to the DP sensor, it could be doing the regen more often, and struggling a bit. The MAF idea above is a good, easy test. Though I can not see how the raised FRP & smoke stacks up. If you over-fuel a diesel, it will just rev up, as there is no throttle as such. (Though, now I think of it, the 1.6TDCI does have a throttle, it is used as part of the EGR system, and as an anti-judder valve at turn off.) If not that, maybe there is a problem with the frp sensor, or the pressure control valve on the fuel pump. High FRP at idle might make the injectors struggle to deliver the small fuel dose, and that could make it smoke.

    years ago, and i mean a long time ago, the workers at first garage i worked at used to go to the pub next door for an hour. more than 2 pints consumed before going back to work on customers cars. lol those were the days.

For anyone that has this issue disconnect mass air flow sensor and drive it i did this and no more smoke but guttless untill 2.5krpm new maff and now she flies all the info says black smoke when maf fails my car only ever chucked white smoke hesitated to 2000 rpm stuttered everynow and again maf was reacting seemingly normal on my obd scanner no faults codes but its a cheap ebay reader bizzar fault that nearly had me coughing up for 4 injectors!

    If you'd said you were using Forscan with a cheap OBD reader I'd be inclined to suspect that it is the reader causing issues on canbus and preventing modules talking to each other. Ordinarily these are benign issues given their momentary nature (the Forscan authors acknowledge this) but if it is preventing some form of learning/initialising from occurring then that's obviously a problem. BUT... you said you were using Ford IDS and so surely it wouldn't not be causing such issues. I am not familiar with what the gearbox learning mode is but can it be done with the ABS module disconnected?
