Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  2. Ford Focus n/s water leak?

Rainy days, cold mornings are here and I can hear water running/dripping N/S I believe its coming from the corner area, I have checked the carpets and footwell and had a good feel around and nothing seems to be wet inside the car on the N/S? Has anyone had this problem and sourced where it was coming from? thanks car is a mk2 60plate.
  3. Ford focus sony 9 speaker sound system

Well... finally got my car yesterday and was kinda disappointed with the sound in general. After one days drive though I think I've got used to it and it's acceptable. The 9th speaker I've heard so bad about doesn't bother me at all, actually I'm pretty happy with it. It might need the sub, some bass punch could do it good, I will listen to it with all kind of music I play and will decide then.
  4. Focus mk2 brake pedal clunk?

Are we saying this is normal then? its really annoying to be honest but if nothing can be done, will put it down to one of those things
  5. Strange stalling when parking in gear

In all fairness you don't need to leave it in gear anyway. As long as you have completely stopped and put the handbrake on, and ensured the engine has stopped running, the car shouldn't move at all. I doubt it jolts when it hasn't been running for a few hours and put it in gear when parked.
  6. Fiesta Servicing - Main Dealer or Independent?

Unless you get a good price, go to a local garage you know or do the service yourself. The extra money you pay going to a main dealer won't reflect quite the same when you sell the car. If you plan on keeping it for ten years then forget about main dealer, consider doing services yourself. If you're wanting to sell in 2 or 3 years time then look at trying to get a cheap service deal at Ford.
  7. Am I the only one who is meh about the MK8?

Not a fan of the grille, wheels look diabolical on that picture. Rear end is shocking, looks like the edge or whatever it's called, and that's just a cheap A to B car.
  8. Have you checked this guide. Also will really appreciate any pictures when it's up and running. I saws these and really liked them but don't know how they will look on the mk6 fiestas Indicator rings instructions
  9. 2013 1.0l Ecoboost engine rust. Problem?

    Phew, all good here.

  11. Things I Don't Like

This is it - and one of the reasons why i'm happy paying the extra for the proper Ford service. £60ish is probably the closest to comparable recovery package.
  12. My gear stick won't return to the center position when in neutral. I've taken the gaiter off and can see that the spring isn't attached to anything? It appears it should connect to the white roller but I'm unsure how? Therefore, how does it connect? Or is the spring broken and requires a new one, if so which spring? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  13. Things I Don't Like

Dealers have always had to pay for the roadside assistance, but previously it was built in to the price. Problem is that the big dealers didn't want to pay the few quid surcharge, so didn't offer it. Only the smaller groups and indy's did. That meant Ford did not pull in enough money to pay the AA for the service. Ford then gave the dealers the option of either scrapping it entirely or putting the price up. Therefore, the increase is now put on the customer, so you are effectively going halfs with your dealer on the cost of it. Still much better value than taking out a comparable cover yourself.
  14. Supraking's Zetec S 125

If you want bright indicators with built-in resistors try autobeams premium indicators. I have them on my fiesta and they give out a bright intense amber light. Could smarten up your sidelights and number plate lights to some nice white LEDs.
  15. Supraking's Zetec S 125

cheers buddy, im not too fussed about major spending on it, i like it how it is and have other things to pour my money into. would love to do the indicator bulbs. but yeah subtle little touches here and there, gunna try and get a set of deflectors and would love a set of colour coded eyebrows at some point
  16. So got the guts to message mountune again and ask about if the car has been remapped. Sadly the car hasn't been remapped😭😭. Gets me wondering now if the other stuff mentioned the last owner said he did he actually did. One question I may ask is how do you check the condition of the clutch? It feels similar to my previous car when we changed the clutch. There's no slipping from what I can tell.
  17. Things I Don't Like

So battling with Ford over their Motorcraft pricing and procedures... told today that the £339 Timing Belt procedure does not include replacing (what I would assume from the little I know to be fairly critical to the belts performance) Tensioner. Spoke to two different dealers who both repeated the same - the tensioner is not included. Best of all, the garage I called did not have the Motorcraft Timing belt procedure down for £339, but £514... Also told that the Roadside Assistance with Motorcraft service will cost an extra £12 to activate. Pulling my hair out a little!
  18. Touch Up Paint

Have you made sure the scrape cannot come off with polish? If it's deep past the clear coat then I'm sure touch up paint will fill it in. Had a go touching up the tailgate when drilling holes behind the number plate. It didn't go to well but that was because the brush which is attached to the top broke off so had to use some funny pins attachment.
  19. Escort mk6 engine swaps

I am going to buy a mk6 escort van soon and I was wondering what performance engines would fit (with turbos and such) From any manufacturer Just what will fit well
  20. Supraking's Zetec S 125

Doesn't look bad. Could look at upgrading the lights.
  21. 150 and 180 is the same engine yes. They both produce the same torque up to about 4.5k RPM, where the 150 map then starts to tail off so as not to exceed 150 PS. The 180PS instead keeps max torque to about 5.5k before it naturally tails off as the engine "runs out of puff".
  22. Focus 1.0Eco Engine running on

Probably just a manufacturing defect. Water ingress to electronics can cause the modern cars to go haywire. I had an issue on a previous car where it would lock and unlock itself, get windows stuck etc. Was found to just be the cable cover between the rear door and b pillar had not been fitted properly and was letting water in to the connectors sending the car's modules nuts.
  23. Focus 2015, no clutch.

Depressed the clutch and it went straight to the floor. As I was in rush hour traffic, close to the dealer I bought it from and still covered by the Ford Direct scheme, I had it recovered back to the dealership. A phone call from the dealer the following morning said they had ordered a new master cylinder and would let me know when it was in. A phone call the day after told me my car was ready for collection. It wasn't the master cylinder but a push fit pipe onto the master cylinder had "dropped off" due to a (plastic ?)securing clip breaking. Has anyone else had or heard about this happening? Car has done 28K miles.
  24. Windscreen stone chip repair

By shear luck a friend of mine works for a famous windscreen company so I get it done for free every time(chip) and a discount on the screen if I buy the whole thing myself and free fitting.
  25. Supraking's Zetec S 125

hey folks, gunna re do this post as photobucket put a stick in the works so my candy blue zs got it a year and half ago with 12k on the clock, now getting close to 26k sailed through two mots and has only needed a set of front tyres when i got it i cleaned it to within an inch of its life, clay bar, full wheel off clean type of job. and have pretty much just been keeping on top of that over the time ive had it the only mods done to it so far are a colour coded ST diffuser and a debadge and that brings us up to today, did the vinyl number plate thingy, had to cheat a little bit, doing it myself meant the full width wasnt working. its a tad rough around the edges, but you have to get close to notice
