Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  2. Thanks.. thought i did it right it was more so the tensioner. As on the vid they only hand tightened it fitted belt pull pin to tensioned it then torqued tensioner fully. Surley it sits in a location point on the engine so doesnt move anyway. The aux belt was a pain more didnt have that stretch tool 😂
  3. Glovebox socket

My MK2 Ghia has/had the air conditioned glovebox, IMHO it's a stupid idea and disconnecting the pipe to remove the glovebox is just another fun step when trying the change the pollen filter! 1st time I did the pollen filter the pipe got removed and where it connects to (not the glove box end) plugged. I always wondered what Ford thought people would actually use it for as most people don't drive around with the AC on all the time?
  4. Most of us on here have bought from Tunnelrat Electronics, it has the correct "chip" in it and should work as intended, there is plenty of anecdotal evidence from forum posts that a lot of the ebay versions are either "clones" or just plan crap i.e. keeps dropping connection or just super slow. Neither of which you want if you're trying to write a change to the car!
  5. Focus 2015, no clutch.

Nope, just for playing dumb on anything that might cost THEM more than 50p to fix!
  6. Headlights. Traffic L/R setting plz help

I don't think it is in the owners manual, hence peoples confusion. Just checked the latest Ford "online" version and couldn't find any mention of it. FORD UK =
  7. Sudden Drop in MPG

As long as you don't use Morrisons diesel regularly you should be fine mate. Morrisons use the full 7% legal allowance of bio-diesel in their fuel which means more soot, more carbon build up, less bang for yer buck and more chance of yer fuel filter clogging in really cold weather. (It annoys me that they don't price any cheaper than the other supermarkets despite their diesel being inferior to all the others).
  8. Yeah that's right. When I was asking about the suitable size they said for my mk6 fiesta it's 60mm and mk7 is 70mm. The ring fits inside the fog light lens against the surround. I kept thinking it fits on the surround until they told me.
  9. Hi, i'm doing the timing belt on my Focus (1.6 100hp) - Haynes and ETIS mentions nothing about it, but do you folk apply loctite ( i have the blue one) on crankshaft, waterpump, waterpump pulley and tensioner bolts? If so, how much? The torque for crankshaft bolt is 40Nm (29,5 lb ft) + 90° ... seems a little low for a keyless design? I really wouldn't want it to come loose....:) Thanks a bunch!
  10. Mark 1.5 petrol questions

It's not very scientific as we don't know how much you paid per litre/gallon, and it can not be accurately ascertained that there was the exact same amount in there before you put 20 quid in and after 130 miles. But based on a very rough calc it looks believable. I know what you mean about not being fast. I have owned one, they feel very weak, particularly when you come to a long hill on a motorway/dual carriageway, it gets slower and slower. A diesel just keeps going and even have extra to overtake someone without changing down. The torque figure for the diesel engine is what counts even thought the bhp may be less.
  11. Only comparable with the 1.6 Petrol ST.
  12. Number Plates Years

From the DVLA website: Must be because of fraud issues like Clive said.
  13. Wouldn't mind that however don't know if it will fit in my 1.6 diesel zetec s

  15. Ford fiesta mpg

Good for you, i am getting around 41 Mpg.
  16. I am looking for a decent lift kit for my ford f150, can anyone suggest me any good site for the same?
  17. Haunted Car

To make things worse I've just tried starting it for work and the battery is dead
  18. Fiesta Servicing - Main Dealer or Independent?

I think I am going to go into BSM to try and get the price down. I would like it if I could since this is the final service while the car is in warranty and it would hugely benefit me if I had to make any out of warranty claims...
  19. Automatic Start/start

Hi Alex, The first time it went into Limp Mode it was a roadside breakdown guy who looked for faults, and the second time it was a garage (not Ford). I have to say that I've got no idea what equipment they were using. Since @iantt's "BMS reset" sequence temporarily resolves the problem, is that where I should focus? Since seeing his post, I've read some stuff online about treating the battery as a "system" in Start/Stop-enabled cars due to the potential for other parts to affect (and even damage) the battery. For instance, I was reading about the RAC patrols carrying around a new Midtronics test device that tells them more than just looking at the battery would (my technical comprehension of the subject fell off quite quickly, I'm afraid). It makes me wonder if I should go back to Ford and request a specific type of test. If that's right, do you know what I'd be asking for?
  20. Haunted Car

Is your car called Christine by any chance 😂
  21. Floor mats

Better on the mats than soaked into the carpet and foam. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  22. Definitely and all taken on board. It's quite nice when all the little bits of knowledge I had about how engines work all come together when the missing pieces are put into place. Besides, the tools can be kept or passed onto someone else needing to do this job - hoping that I will be able to get some video, or at least a full set of pictures of all the steps - as it seems there is no real good guide for doing it! It's still cheaper buying kit + tools and 3 hours of my time, than working the 36 hours required to pay a garage to do it.
  23. Mark 1.5 petrol questions

Hey all. I haven't owned a petrol engined car for some time and would just like to ask if my economy is right or wrong. I put 10 quid in my old punto 1.9 diesel and I could get 100 miles out of it at a push, maybe 90 to be safe. I put 20 quid in my focus and have achieved 130 miles. Is this normal? It's a 2002 1.6 zetec. My running around has been the same with both cars. It isn't even fast, it's very smooth, but fast it isn't, my punto would destroy it. Unfortunately that has gone to the car breaker in the sky. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  24. Haunted Car

The slow wipers can indicate an electrical fault. Recreate the day, chuck bucket loads of water over it and get someone to throw hundreds of little ice cubes at it, then disable alarm, go from there :-)

  26. Number Plates Years

Putting a newer reg on would be classed as misrepresentation / fraud. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  27. Number Plates Years

Just a random question but does anyone know why you can make a car look older by putting an older plate on but you can't make a car look newer, is it to do with selling it?
  28. ford just quoted £226 for a second-year service. reduced to £190 after a bit of a haggle. ended up taking it to Halfords who did the job for £135. on both years I've asked ford for a price they have been close to £100 more and I can't see me getting that back at the other end
