Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  2. I am looking for a decent lift kit for my ford f150, can anyone suggest me any good site for the same?
  3. Haunted Car

To make things worse I've just tried starting it for work and the battery is dead
  4. Fiesta Servicing - Main Dealer or Independent?

I think I am going to go into BSM to try and get the price down. I would like it if I could since this is the final service while the car is in warranty and it would hugely benefit me if I had to make any out of warranty claims...
  5. Automatic Start/start

Hi Alex, The first time it went into Limp Mode it was a roadside breakdown guy who looked for faults, and the second time it was a garage (not Ford). I have to say that I've got no idea what equipment they were using. Since @iantt's "BMS reset" sequence temporarily resolves the problem, is that where I should focus? Since seeing his post, I've read some stuff online about treating the battery as a "system" in Start/Stop-enabled cars due to the potential for other parts to affect (and even damage) the battery. For instance, I was reading about the RAC patrols carrying around a new Midtronics test device that tells them more than just looking at the battery would (my technical comprehension of the subject fell off quite quickly, I'm afraid). It makes me wonder if I should go back to Ford and request a specific type of test. If that's right, do you know what I'd be asking for?

  9. Floor mats

Better on the mats than soaked into the carpet and foam. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  10. Definitely and all taken on board. It's quite nice when all the little bits of knowledge I had about how engines work all come together when the missing pieces are put into place. Besides, the tools can be kept or passed onto someone else needing to do this job - hoping that I will be able to get some video, or at least a full set of pictures of all the steps - as it seems there is no real good guide for doing it! It's still cheaper buying kit + tools and 3 hours of my time, than working the 36 hours required to pay a garage to do it.
  11. Mark 1.5 petrol questions

Hey all. I haven't owned a petrol engined car for some time and would just like to ask if my economy is right or wrong. I put 10 quid in my old punto 1.9 diesel and I could get 100 miles out of it at a push, maybe 90 to be safe. I put 20 quid in my focus and have achieved 130 miles. Is this normal? It's a 2002 1.6 zetec. My running around has been the same with both cars. It isn't even fast, it's very smooth, but fast it isn't, my punto would destroy it. Unfortunately that has gone to the car breaker in the sky. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  12. Haunted Car

The slow wipers can indicate an electrical fault. Recreate the day, chuck bucket loads of water over it and get someone to throw hundreds of little ice cubes at it, then disable alarm, go from there :-)

  14. Number Plates Years

Putting a newer reg on would be classed as misrepresentation / fraud. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  15. Number Plates Years

Just a random question but does anyone know why you can make a car look older by putting an older plate on but you can't make a car look newer, is it to do with selling it?
  16. ford just quoted £226 for a second-year service. reduced to £190 after a bit of a haggle. ended up taking it to Halfords who did the job for £135. on both years I've asked ford for a price they have been close to £100 more and I can't see me getting that back at the other end
  17. According to this compatibility list you are correct.
  18. Floor mats

    yep. lol
  19. How to remove wax

Try looking at the website of the polish manufacturer you've been using. You may find your answer there.
  20. you have done it correctly from what i can make out. the idea of slackening the cam sprockets is to allow the timing to be set as close to perfect as possible. By not doing so you are assuming they are bang on already.
  21. Floor mats

    Ain't you posh lol
  22. Yeah 70 mm is for mk7 7s ... I think 🤔🤔😮😮
  23. Mk8 Delivery Delays?

  24. Haunted Car

Today we've had quite a large hail shower and quite a lot of rain... At 6pm one of my daughters shouted to me that the car alarm was going off. I went out and unlocked the car to stop it. When I was going to pick up daughter #2 I was passing the focus in the wife's car and noticed the interior light was on, the indicators were flashing as if the hazards button was pressed and the front window wipers were moving slowly. As I was in a rush I couldn't stop to look. When I got back (15mins later) it had stopped. I popped the bonnet but it doesn't look like there was any water on the fusebox Any suggestions other than getting a good priest?
