Hi all, A couple of days ago my diesel stop solenoid decided to start leaking when i wanted to use my car. My local motor factors stock 8 different types for my car ('99 1.8TD escort) but they are all wrong. Ford's want £175 for one (not sure if thats for a full pump cos he did mention it not being available as a seperate unit).

The part number they gave me is 1114471 and the part number on the solenoid is MAEDS 124A07

Mine has wiring built-in to it as opposed to nut or spade connections, and the end of the solenoid itself has a filter on it instead of a plunger (Here's a photo of it).

The solenoid works perfectly well so what i want to know is - does anybody know where i can get a replacement solenoid on its own, or tell me a good way of stopping it from leaking (i think its coming from the rubber seal around the wires).

If i can get a solenoid that will physically fit and do the job, the wiring is not at all important as i can adapt that myself.

that price IS for the solenoid alone....a pump would set you £1000 + from ford!!!!

So it's not a stop solenoid at all. It's an advance actuator with part number 9108-153A and i can get one for £45 + P+P. Bit steep but better than the £175 that ford qouted me.

Thats the part. Everywhere i look, there's no mention of a stop solenoid for that car but when i finally managed to find a picture of my unit with the part number 9108-153A and it's called an LLA (low load advance) actuator, which is still a solenoid but not a stop one. Appernetly - it constantly operates to fine adjust the fuel or something.

I managed to find one at Darwen Diesels for £37 +VAT so i've got one on special delivery, coming tomorrow.
