Escort Van Gearbox Rattle

Featured Replies

Hi all, new here.

I have a 1991 Escort 1.8D van with 91k on clock.

It starts and runs fine and revs smoothly but when i turn it off there is a rattle from gearbox area which is like 3 or so knocks (sounds like something is loose)

However if i turn engine off with clutch depressed there is no noise!

Is this the box or the release bearing?

Cheers

Guess noone here has any technical knowledge on cars. I will have to go with my hunch on it being the gearbox imput shaft bearings and replace box

Think my old 1992 van used to do this many years ago. Never caused me any problems though
