Urgent Help Needed! Driver Seat Issue

First post! Bought my GTi on Sunday all has been ok until today.

The drivers seat has broken! The back will no longer wind up it is almost horizontal.

It will go up when using the lever (as its a 3 door) but will not lock in place.

It is as if the seat thinks its up right when it actually isn't.

Car is almost undriveable! Any ideas??

The seat is leather and electri in terms of rising from the base.

I can buy a velour tomorrow so also does anyone know if the half leather covers can be put on a velour seat?

All help greatly appreciated!
