Doing My Own Repairs

Featured Replies

Hi folks

Bearing in mind I'm a newb to "modern cars" how difficult would it be to replace the exhaust on my Escort.

My mechanics experience thus far is changing the gear box and clutch hydraulics system (with someone else) in a series 2 1964 land rover. This is very simple really since all you need is 2 types of spanner/ratchet.

There's about £200's worth of repair on the car for it to pass the MOT (mechanic says) but he's been vague about what the repairs are. Since I don't know what I'm looking for I'm stumped. However even the biggest dunce knows when the exhaust is chuffed, & I may be able to afford to do that myself.

Any Sheffielders on here willing to give me a heads up & come for a look?

Cheers

Bob

Exhaust is an easy change.

2 Spanners is all thats needed, some gasket sealer, new gasket and whip the old exhaust off the hangers, new one on and tigtened up
