hi there

i have a mk4 cabby, it was an xr3i but the injection system wouldnt let any fuel through so i threwit all away and fitted weber twin 40 dcoe,

i have now got the damn thing back together, but now i cant get a spark @ the coil. can anybody help me becouse this is the only reason it wont start! aarg

any info would be much apreceated as im not exactly an expert, infact i know jack about this.

the common fail point on the xr3 ignition was a small black box on the distributer called an ignition amplifier, in the old days you just borrowed one from your mate with the same car to see if it was the problem,how you would check now is a bit more difficult.there should also a supressor arrangement in the passenger strut top/inner wing that can sometimes fail. its a little grey box with a red and green wire going in. You could test that by bypassing it.do a google search for the amplifier and you might find a way to test it.
