Air Intake Pipe

Featured Replies

I currently own a Ford Escort MK4 1.3l Cosmopolitan which has a Valencia OHV engine in it.

Basically I need a new air pipe for the car. As it's split.

I have attached the diagram with ford part number and price. The part I'm looking for is labeled part 6, the one that feeds the engine cool air from outside. However Ford being Ford have rather inflated prices, the price on the scan is the one ford quoted me for the part.

I was wondering if I can get a part from somewhere else or some 3rd party part or whatever.

If it's only the pipe bit that's split then wouldn't it be cheaper to buy some of that thin metal (foil?) flexible pipe that they sell at most car accessory/tuning shops now-a-days and clamp it on at both ends?

That's what i was thinking but I'm unsure as to exactly what i need and what i should replace it with. Are there any good 3rd party one or is it just generic stuff?

I don't really know, I think it's all the same. What I would do is squeeze it slightly to test how strong it is, not that an old 1.3 is going to suck so hard as to collapse it :)

Don't forget the put a decent bend in it to allow for the movement of the engine when booting it, etc,
