i have a problem with my clutch, or at least i think so......went out yesterday to find it wouldn't go into gear when started up? but if i turn the car off it will go into gear no problems?? but when starting with clutch in the car trys to jump when starting, the clutch feels fine to press, its 51 tddi... i did have a pipe off that was leaking fluid when i bought it (2 weeks ago), it comes from around the brake fluid area then comes across to drivers side before entering car, this was loose and fluid was leaking, all tightened up now, could this be related?? air in system etc, im hoping its nowt major as ive only just bought it!! any ideas please folks!!!

the pipe you reffer to will be the one that goes to the clutch master cylinder on the pedal. definetly sounds like you have air in the system

cheers il av a go....where is the bleeder valve for the clutch and how do i find it??

it will be on the slave cylinder on the gearbox, not sure what the mondeo is like but you might need to remove the battery and things to get at it.

clutches are a right PITA to bleed, i would recommend you get a pressure bleeder to make it slightly easier.

bled clutch (undid nipple and pumped clutch) no air only fluid came out, so wasnt that, unless ive done it wrong? from visual looking, the clutch seems to be working, but just not engaging gears when engine started???????

clutches can be a nightmare to get all the air out, if you can i would try pressure bleeding and pumping the pedal.
