Air Conditioning Intermittent

My 55 plate has started to give my problems with the air conditioning. when i'm driving it pumps out cold air, although probably not as cold as it used to, but still quite chilled. However when i stop or am going slow in traffic it just blows out air that's no colder than when the air con is off.

i took the car and had the system re-charged but it has made no difference. I've also noticed that on tickover the engine seems to be hunting a bit and is noisy when doing so - does anyone have any ideas about the air con problem and whether or not it may be connected to the noisier idle.

Here's hoping - i've looked at the price of a new compressor and i'm quite scared!!

Had a similar problem with my 54 plate, ok at speed but at low speed NO aircon, also noticed that water temp rose at low speed.

Found out a fuse had blown on radiator fan, new fuse fitted, problem sorted.

Hope this helps
