    What's wrong with this 1981 Escort Engine? 

    It just doesn't look like the real thing.

    What engine is it claimed to be? 35 years since I had one, but from the photo it doesn't look like a CVH (1.3 or 1.6), looks more like a pushrod engine - the 1.1 Valencia was fitted in some versions of the Mk 3.

    The guy couldn't tell me. But this is in Spain, maybe that says something. It's definitely a ford and it's fitted on the GL.

    As I say, looks like the pushrod Valencia engine to me (appropriate if it's in Spain!😀). I don't recall that engine being fitted in the UK GL,  but we're not talking about a UK spec car it seems. There must be some indication of the engine capacity in the cars paperwork, surely? The Valencia is 1.1 litre, or 1117cc to be precise.

    My mate had a 1.1 and I had a 1.3 CVH. That looks like the 1.1 from memory.

    Tiny engines in huge engine bays is always a giggle at the retro shows!  No wonder they cover everything in plastic nowadays...

    Interesting swastika practice on the walls too... :unsure:

    I had a mk3 1.1 with that engine. It wasn’t exactly fast. I also had a 1.3cvh and 1.6cvh, much better.
