2003 TDci Air Con issues

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have recently purchased a 2003 '03' Mondeo 2.0 Tdci (130 bhp) Zetec which I am very happy with. There is one issue which worries me. The air con seems not to be very cold even when on LO. There is some air coming out of the fans which is kind of cold but it does not have the chilled effect I would have hoped for. I can imagine on the one or two warm days we may get this summer it won't do much.

Could it be something simple?

What prices am I looking at best and worst case scenarios?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers

It could be the air con system needs a service and re-gassing. Costs about £50 for re-gassing not sure on the cost for servicing it too.

I recently had a the problem on a 2003 2.0tdci mondeo. A re-gas would have cost £50 which would have been done at home, but the engineer who came out flushed the old gas out and checked the radiator for the air con. This sits in between the main engineer radiator and the turbo radiator I think?

My air con radiator had sprung a leak but the strange thing was that the other radiators in front and behind the aircon radiator were fine.

So a new aircon radiator cost me around £380 which was a workshop job.

You might be lucky and get away with a re-gas as I was told a 2003 year car is due a topup
