Just wanting to know a few things about my 2003 Ka . . .

Anyone know the expected 0-60?

Would she spin the wheels handy enough? Lol!

Handbreake any good?

The price range for a decent set of alloys?

Any good rear lights that don't look tacky?

thanks : )

No offence mate, but you just sound like the typical boy racer that we find on out roads. The type that ends up wrapped around a lampost the day after they pass their test. Does it matter how fast it goes 0-60? Does it matter if it spins the wheels "handy"? You can only go as fast as the speed limit allows you to. And if you get caught spinning your wheels you pretty much lose your licence for dangerous driving. I think you need to do a bit of growing up before you start driving.

Just some of advice...

I know what you mean mate, but there is a place where we are allowed to do stuff like that, to keep us off the roads doing it, the 0-60 bit, I was just curious. I'm not stupid like, I wont be out on the roads raking about in it!

0-60 is irrelevant in a ka, you aint winning any races with it

standard ford alloys will set you back bout £100 off eBay

handbrake does what it needs to do i guess and as for aftermarket rear headlights i dont think is possible to buy none tacky ones

at the end of the day its a KA, you wont look cool and i suggest you save the money

The 14 sec mark was for the old 59BHP 1.3 engine that was in KA's prior to 2003.

2003 onwards is a 69BHP/70PS 1.3 engine does 0-62 in approx 13 sec.

Due to the KA's light weight (its power to weight ratio is reasonable) and been an 8v (high torque at low revs) its actually slightly faster than e.g. the older Clio 1.2 16v and certainly faster than the newer heavier Clio 1.2 16v design.

From a 0-40mph perspective due to its light weight and high torque at low revs the KA can pull away much quicker than most cars. From 40mph onwards other cars will claw back lost ground and overtake!

The new KA is said to have the same 0-62 as the older one, but frankly I find that hard to believe surely the newer version is more heavier. A lot of people are saying the handling in the newer KA is not as good as the older one, which is what is putting me off purchasing one.

But as people have said, who cares its not a sports car and people who try to drive it like one should perhaps watch the Euro NCAP video of the KA!

Hi Flashy,

Don't worry about the 0-60 in a Ka at all because like Mirage has just said a standard 1.3 Ka will beat most cars in the 0-30 zone.

We are on our third Ka (this time a beautiful black Sportka) as my OH loves them and they are such an underrated car.

The shape of them is unique and the road holding will put many many other far more expensive cars to shame and they all have their own personality. Incidentally, I'm talking about the original Ka not the new shape thing that looks like a baby Pug.

I love to drive our Sportka (his name's Noddy by the way) but she won't let me near it.

She lets me have a go when Noddy gets thirsty and it's just such fun to drive!

She's only had it since Xmas and that car has wanted to go since day one--she's only done 1500 miles in it so the engine's still quite tight--personally I keep encouraging her to use it so that the next time I get to drive it, it'll be a bit looser and even more willing! B)
