Featured Replies

Hi there...

Im a 17 year old... looking to buy a good used car for around 10k.

just wondering what you guys suggest, not wanting to spend the whole amount on the car, would like to buy some mods, and im looking for a car that doesnt burn holes in the wallet in terms of insurance...any suggestions would be great!

Hi

Welcome to FOC

Firstly i would do the following before looking really hard.

1. Which model you like

2. Look for the lowest model in the range (for insurance purposes)

3. Get an insurance quote.. try confused.com

This is if you are interested in paying low insurance, if you are fortunate to have money then you could choose anything you like.... but insurance will be very expensive.

Focus or Fiesta would be a good car to look at first.

Golden rule is never buy a automatic as first car (unless you took your test in one) Having manual gearbox experience is paramount IMO.

good luck

You could have a brand new Fiesta Style for around 7k. Really cheap insurance. It has cd player and leccy windows. If you wanted some more mods you could go for the fiesta style climate for an extra £600? Its the same as the style but with leccy mirrors, quick clear windscreen, air con etc. It may have alloys too but you may have to check.

The zetec will be high on insurance....

I wouldn't base model on everything... or age...

A lot of companies (I work for an insurance company) give age of car discount.... and I drive a 1.4 Ghia (53 plate) fiesta and pay £750 a year fully comp and I'm 19 with 1 years NCB.

Have a look about and see what's best, the fiesta certainly is good on insurance, petrol and it's very comfy and rather well equipt too.

Maybe something like a fiesta zetec s?
