whirring/humming noise from start up

hi can anyone help with mondeo 95k 2000 w reg 2.5 v6 ghia x duratech engine. When the car is started up 1st thing on a morning it makes a loud whirringhumming noise which cant be accuratly pin pointed as its quite loud. Apply heavy sometimes light revs and the noise goes. If left to idle before its fully warmed up the noise comes back (if steering is turned or air con switched on ). Thanks for reading my uncles car so would appreciate some advice.
