running temperature of 1996 galaxy auto 2.8 V^

Featured Replies

I'd be most grateful if someone could shed light on where the temperature dial for my V6 Galaxy shoud be. After only 10 mins of driving the temp. gauge nudges quite close to the red area - cooling system works fine - fan comes on and keeps the the dial within the range of normal - but reaches high temp. too quickly and fan seems to be on constantly. Coolant level is topped up beyond maximum - otherwise a lower level of coolant causes overheating. Any ideas? Ford dealership have checked and saw no faults with cooling system. Also does the V6 :( have a chain instead of a cambelt? Many thanks.

Am pretty certain that the V6 has a timing chain. As it uses the old Essex V6 engines from the Granadas. Other problem can't help with sorry.
