Escort 1996 Diesel Turbo

Featured Replies

HI,

As this is my first post, I would like to say Hi to everyone.

I have just brought a diesel escort 18 TD (as a runabout), and would like to know how to check if my turbo is working as it should. I have had diesel turbo cars before and normally you would hear a whistle or something, my escort should I say does a whooosh! not sure if this is leaking, or if this is how it should be.

Not having a 1800 before, not sure about the performance. I know something is laking as I understand that a standard diesel (no turbo) normally goes from 0-60 in about 3 months. My escort well feels to be that long.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Jimbo.

welcome to FOC

Normally with diesel turbos you should feel a slight boost at about 3000 revs or so.

If you do not feel the kick and just a woosh noise then it could well be leaking, have you checked all the pipework for splits or loose connections?
