55d van squeek

Featured Replies

hi,

i am new to the forum just bought myself a L reg 55d van to start up a new business its in mint condition low mileage and loads of history but it has the loudest squeek on the passenger side front suspension as you over bumps but if you accelarate the noise goes away untill you take your foot off the gas and the weight goes back on the front end. I am thinkin this could be a dry strut or poss the wishbone bushes. Any advice would be great.

cheers tony

Sounds more like the shock is on the way out, or you may have a broken spring.

My advice would be to jack her up, take the wheel off and check everything you can.

Then, put another jack under the wishbone, and jack up, compressing the spring/shock, and see if you can see/hear anything abnormal.

Hope this helps

hi the shock was my first thought, will a used one from any year escort van go on ?? or are they all different, are the turbo diesel shocks and springs the same ???

cheers tony

I think all the diesel ones are the same, but not sure if they used different ones on the front for a 55 or a 75.

If yours is a 55, i'd get some from a 55.

Hopefully the shock is the problem as it should be an easy fix.
