Master Brake cylinder ID

Featured Replies

I have a Cobra Kit car that has Sierra running gear and brakes.

Recently the Master Brake cylinder has gone and I'm looking to replace.

As I purchased the donor parts in a bundle I don't know what car they came from.

My ford dealer tells me there are over 17 different types on the various Sierra models :(

I'm hoping some expert will be able to point me in the right direction please.

There is no marking on the master cylinder other than 222 stamped on the flange.

The fluid reservoir shows yr of manufacture to be 88 and the number 74470337, the lid is helpfully marked Ford

The master cylinder bore is 22mm

I've tried one:

MC1510

(LUC)

22.22MM BORE

FITS:

FORD SIERRA

1.3 1982-00/1986

1.6,1.8,2.0 1982-00/1988

2.3 1982-00/1984

Not this one, the pipe outlets present in different positions and the flange fittings to the servo housing are different.

Mine seems to be manufactured from a tube where the MC1510 is from a cast.

I've uploaded a pic of my old one in case that helps.

Many, many thanks for any help.

Cheers

Martin

Thanks for the response.

I thought the same and bought one of those but it is not right :-(

Motorparts direct have been fantastic and have agreed to refund my money and look for the right part, so I'd really recommend them.

My Ford dealer was pathetic and not able to help at all, assistant could not even pronounce Girling. ;)

Doing some research however I've found the answer and a great site that may be of use to the classic car fraternity.

What I have is a Girling steel tube brake master cylinder Part BMC4053.

The site with the smart search system that let me find the answer is http://www.brakeparts.co.uk/

Go to the online catalogue and away you go.:rolleyes:
