escort starting difficulty

Featured Replies

hey i recently brought an escort 1.8 zetec ghia....... drives perfect apart from the fact of getting it started any time of the day. its turns over but does not fire up 9 out of 10 times, on the odd occasion it does fire up the car runs swet as anything no loss of power or anything untill u let the revs drop.......... they wil drop to around the 500 rpm mark and either stall or adjust themselves back to normal...

wen i was driving it last nite all seemed well until coming to a stop at a junction and it jus stalled basically and habve this starting problem.....

ive had it started agen today and checked tht the air flow is all good air filter clean pipes not leaking and all sensors appear to b working.... i no about the idle control valve problem which is my next step on the car to c if i can stop this stalling problem but its the starting 1 im more worried about as i need this car to get me to work evryday....

apart from the ICV is they any other things i should b looking at? for the starting problem and the stalling problem???

thanx

she wants to fire up most of the time but i have ad the odd situation where she has sounded like no compression onli for a second or 2 tho...... n e ideas?

Try a service first, could be HT leads/spark plugs etc etc.

If you still have the problem after that, at least you know everything else is right and you can work away from that point
