Just look for the usual really. Oil in water and vice versa make sure all the gears select. Make sure clutch is ok as they are expensive to replace. Tyres any knocking or bangs etc. Just what you'd usually go for. Although i think there are a few more serious points to check for but cant remember what they are. If you do a search on the forum there is actually a couple of stickies that are specifaclly written up on what to look out for.

check out the service history and see if / when the cam belt is due to be changed, Think its 10,000 miles or ten years which ever comes first. Look for damp carpets in the footwells, leaking Clutch master cylinder (oil on mat/carpet below clutch pedel)
Hope all goes well
Let us know how you get on

age of the car will mean -
RUST! rear arches may be starting to bubble up(might need to look close)
i know its wear and tear but check the condition of the exhaust.
also check all the buttons work, check all 4 speeds work on the blower motor etc..

Check for any hydraulic leaks coming from the steering system. check for the level first and find out if there's any tightness feel especially during cornering.
