We have owned a 1.9 Diesel Galaxy from 2007 bought from Ford Dealer 18months old.
Within 6 months we had computer periodically shut down and then start up again.Coupled with this was a loss of power whereby 0-30 would take 9, 10 seconds - no umph at all. Then it would recover and then happen again. We took back as uner warranty but they told us only to come in when it was happening - impossible. After warranty ran out Ford then looked at it and told us fuse box next to battery corroded and had to be replaced. 3 months later problem still occuring possibly not initially after installation. In the meantime we kept getting smoke and fumes in the car occasionally. Took to quick fit to check exhaust. All fine but suggested cleaning air con which they did. Problem not resolved. Then 3 months after the replacement of fuse box the car stopped dead. Taken to Kwik fit and they said alternator is dead and it must have been falty as the new fuse box was now corroded (melted) which they blamed an over hot alternator. New alternator put in and next day car dead and fuse box further melted. Kwik fit said that the fuse box caused the new alternator (1 day old ) to overheat and break. So now a second fuse box in 3 months and a 3rd alternator in 3 days.
Anyone got any ideas???
