hello all , im new to this forum but do belong to others,i am considering buying a mondeo tdci, may want to spend up to £6k .
What are the worst things to be aware of with the mondeo tdci and what features or spec levels have the most toys,i have a lexus at the moment so am used to lots of creature comforts and would like as many gadgets and gismos as i can get - what should i be looking for and to avoid ?

the biggest problems are - delphi injectors, duel mass flywheels and turbo actuators which can all fail prematurley, the titanium and titanium x are the models with the most toys you can read more here.

rough running, uneven tickover, black smoke under normal driving conditions and sounding like a tractor could point towards injectors, - clutch judder, difficulty in starting because of the iron filings from the dmf in the starter motor avoid, the main dmf problems were on the early 2002-2004 models. also another common problem is the belt tensioner which can wear and start to chatter so if the belt is bouncing a new tensioner is needed.it really is pot luck with the mondeo you can get one and have no problems at all or be unlucky where everything can go wrong, my 06 mondy has had new injectors and a tensioner assembly and only 40000 miles with all the work coming after the warrenty had run out so ford do not want to know, good luck with your search i am off back to toyota when the time is due.
