I have just replaced the fuel filter element on my 55 Ford Focus 2.0 TDCI. Foolishly thinking it would be a simple job (like all the other Ford diesels I have owned to bleed and prime system) however I was not prepared for no 'non return valves' and no 'priming pump'.
So having replaced the filter, sucked fuel up into the cannister and refitted the quick release pipes, I started the engine. It ran for all of 20 seconds and now, to add my embarassment I have a flat battery. So while I wait for it to recharge can anyone offer any useful hints on where I should begin to bleed the air from the system, please.
I now have the Haines manual but I do not have the hand-held vacuum pump!! (are these a Ford specialist tool?)
