I'm looking into purchasing 4 new tyres for my 02 1.8 tdci focus. It has standard 15" focus alloys on (the 14 spoke version) with budget 195/60 tyres. My question is, would it be ok to fit tyres with a slightly lower profile on? such as 195/50? as they will look better and strangely enough are a bit cheaper (less rubber I suppose ). Or can anyone suggest anything. Any help and advice is much appreciated.

Mine has 195/55 tyres on and is fine.
yes you can, but it will put your speedo out.
cheers for the replies guys! Cress, have you noticed that your speedo is out by much? My car already seems to be out slightly, it's ok at low speeds under 30mph, but as I increase my speed to above 30mph my speedo seems to go out by about 5mph. Though I did come to this conclusion by using my sat nav, so I'm not too sure which one is more accurate.

Sat Nav can be a bit out even with stock wheels, best to use the hidden menu speedo, theirs loads of threads on here as how to find it

Yeah cheers Lenny, thats a great little trick, I did use that along side of the sat nav and they gave me pretty much the same reading. This is what made me realise that my speedo was out slightly anyway.

Ok Thanks for the clarification, noticed on a video here of a 1.25 fiesta MK7 digital display was 98mph but speedo was at 112mph thats way off
