Hi Any help please Ford Focus 2001 Auto Estate 1.6 zetec.
When operating my Indictors they do not cancel on completion of turn.
I have removed the Indicator Switch but it seems to work o/k in your hand the little toggle looks fine.
is there a canceling ring on the column that can be replaced ?? if so how do you access it any body got any ideas ?

[font="Arial"][size="2"]Solution: A common problem is a faulty self cancelling cam on the clockspring. A revised mechanism has been fittted since 11/2001. The solution to the problem is to fit a new clockspring along with a spacer to prevent repeat failure.[/size][/font]

Unhook the battery. by the time you get the airbag unbolted any residual charge will have dissipated. unbolt the airbag and pull it off. unhook it and set it aside with the bag portion facing up. Remove the nut in the center of the steering wheel. pull the wheel off. remove the spacer. unhook and remove the clockspring try not to turn it as it will cause problems after as there wont be enough cable to complete the full turn of the wheel . Making sure the new clockspring is centered, install it onto the column and then install the spacer and wheel over it. zing the nut on and then hook up and reinstall the airbag. Then go reattach the battery cable. to get the air bag off you need a tiny socket. its a 5.5 MM
and no it wont fail an mot

You have taken the pressure off me to get it repaired before the Mot is due in the next couple of weeks.
Sorry to be a Pain but do you require any special tools to remove the Steering wheel other than a socket set and is the clock spring a repairable item or do you just buy a new one . any Idea what the cost may be.
