My MK3 cup holder won't stay shut, can anyone suggest a simple way of fixing this problem?

sounds like the catch has gone, the cheapest thing would be to replace it with one from the scrappies,about 15-20 mins to replace.

Thanks for the reply, would you happen to know where i could get instructions on how to do the change?

remove gear stick gator and trim by pulling upwards,this will give you access to the trim surrounding the cup holder,remove the trim and you should see the screws that hold the cup holder in. the first picture in the link shows the cup holder with the panels removed,you should not have to remove the radio.
