hey i got a n reg 1996 escort 1.4 lx this is a random question but does it have a engine management light on it???? think engine has got a fault but cant see owt

it seems to lose power now and agen 1 minute its fine otha times u put ur foot down and it jus loses power in 2nd gear. the only otha thing i noticed was the revs keep bouncin between 500 an 1000 rpm quite eratically like it wants to stall but aint dun that for a while now
