Having just picked up my used 59 plate smax zetec, Im really confused as to why there are not parking sensors fitted. All the info I can see online seems to suggest these are a standard feature across the range. Does anyone know if these have only become standard recently or something?

Ford have recently made an upgrade to certain features on certain models which includes parking sensors, auto lights etc and you maybe looking at a new brochure rather than the one that was current when your model was marketed.
