I'm new here so apologies if this topic should have been posted elsewhere...

I'm after some advice regarding the offside front seatbelt in my mk3 mondeo (2001 x reg). It has recently started to fray along the edges and as a result is no longer retracting properly. I assume this will be an MOT fail.

As such, I need to take the unit apart and try to untangle the stray fibres, this will be a quick fix until a new unit arrives and which i will fit just before the MOT in feb.

Any advice on how to take the seatbelt apart or where to buy a (cheap) replacement would be greatly appreciated. I see they're about 25quid on eBay... not sure about second hand for a seatbelt?
