my mondeo was ok up until last week when my partner ran out of fuel it drove like a dream and had never let us down but now when the car first starts in the morning it will not rev and it smokes for about 30 seconds once it clears it drives fine but juders every now and then any help as to what it is thanks

with running out of fuel it could have draged all the crud out of the tank and partually blocked the fuel filter.

Yeppp Try replacing your fuel filter which is cheap all the sediments must have been blocking it ..... Change the fuel filter things would be back to normal
