The cam-belt went on my Ford Focus Flight 1.6 2002 on the M4 last month and I have been trying to get the head off to access the damage. I have been following the Haynes manual and the dismantling process has been difficult due to the lack of accessibility in the engine bay and the age of various nuts and bolts but I have completed all the steps all be it with the help of a friend who is an engineer.
The problem we are having after loosening the head is that it will not come out fully due to a bolt connecting the head to the engine mount (pictures attached). We are placing a piece of wood into the exhaust manifold opening in the cylinder head and hammering, and the head is moving but it appears that the engine mount is moving upwards to, squashing it's rubber as the alternator bold holes that go through the engine mount are still flush with the head. This is not mentioned in the manual and we are thinking we may have to place a trolley jack with a piece of wood under the sump to support the engine while this bolt is taken out. Hope this makes sense!
