Hi, I'm new to this site, and have just bought a 1.8SI on a 98 plate.
I paid £300 for it with 6 months MOT and no tax. Needed a run around whilst my people carrier gets repaired. Old skool thoughts, can't go wrong with a Ford. Major issue, I got no fuel gauge! well its there, but it don't work. Has anyone got any ideas? I haven't had a chance to go buy a Haynes manual, guy I bought it off says its got fuel in it, however, I ran out of fuel, so until I can get some fuel..., (would you believe my local filling station is closed, next one is miles away), so whilst I wait, Google bought me here, I've logged in, can you help? All other functions on the dash work.

Had the exact same problem with mine when i bought it. Mate of mine wiggled the wires from the sender unit and its worked ever since. They corrode up a little so would be an idea to clean them up.
Put some fuel in first, wiggle the wires and see if the gauge moves.
