Hi

I was wondering if anyone can help me with my car problem. I have owned my fiesta T reg 1.3 for three years now. I recently noticed that the MAP sensor was disconnect. When i reconnected it the performance of the car was heavily reduced, when driving i have to put my foot down and i still do not get good acceleration. I have unplugged it again but the car is quite jerky in lower gears but is fine when i am on the motorway. However i dont think i am getting as good a MPG as i should do. I replaced the MAP sensor but this had not fixed the problem. I have had new leads and sparks in the past 18 months. The car does not have a MAF sensor so that is not the problem. The car idles fine with the map sensor connected. It seems to me that someone has disconnected the MAP sensor to disguise another fault with the car. If anyone has another idea of what the fault might be i would be very grateful.

Have you tried doing an ECU reset with the MAP connected. Not sure how you do this on your car, but it may just be a case of disconnecting the battery for an hour or so and then taking it for a drive somewhere.

It is possible, your cars ECU has adjusted itself to run with the MAP disconnected.

Hopefully someone who has experienced similar will be along soon.
