Put some CREE's in my main beam, could drive round all day with them on without blinding people, look cool how the unit is lit up - but then the purpose of a main beam is to be bright, so unfortunately I'd say not for beam's at all. Mainly did as a test rather than actually going out and trying them on an evening.

what exactly is the difference between these £20 ones and the £7 ones that come up when you ebay it?
i read all sorts about error messages when getting new number plate bulbs and i paid no attention tbh

will it just be the usual thing about cheap ebay quality?

cheers

Moral of the story is don't buy from china. In my defense I only purchased them on Lenny's suggestion :P

Eventually got a full refund after threatening to fly over to china with a chainsaw

If its too cheap to be true then it is.
Ive been stung myself when purchasing pivot voltage stabiliser kit, waited 5 weeks to recieve it,
Then went out in monsoon conditions to fit it,
To find its a replica of the original and will drain the battery instead of condition it.
Brigante;
If you can get a deal on two chain saws im with you brother!

I'd buy some but my reversing lights AND rear wiper on a mk3 mondeo estate have stopped working.

checked the bulbs n fuses, ok.

No idea where to look now. :(

Podzak

I fitted one of these (not a bad price given you get two) a few weeks ago. Unfortunately the tint to the rear of my car is so dark it hasn't really made much difference to reversing but it is definitely brighter

Try fitting some mirrors m8. ;)

Thanks, but will the fuse do with 50 watts... ?
justgotast170

I Know you don't like the Chinese LED's: But http://dx.com/c/car-accessories-799/car-lights-723/car-led-bulbs-712

Lenny

Thanks, but will the fuse do with 50 watts... ?

Yes the standard factory fitted fuse will be fine mate,
The 50 watts is the power of light emmited that is equivilant to the 12v cree led bulb,
All cree BA15s bulbs have built in resistors which allow them to function in both 12v and 24v supply instantly,
The leds use 12v power to produce 50 watts of light from the leds thats the beauty of cree

I Know you don't like the Chinese LED's: But http://dx.com/c/car-accessories-799/car-lights-723/car-led-bulbs-712

I don't dislike Chinese LEDs or dislike anything from china,
I have done a lot of business with suppliers from china over the years receiving quality items at great value prices,
The issue I have found is there are replica counterfeit stock on the market claiming to be Cree but failing to function at all when purchased at the cheaper price.
As result I'm sceptical about purchasing Cree from china as they do export replica stock of cree bulbs which have been proven to be disfunctional by many members of this forum.
Other led bulbs and smd pads I've purchased from china have worked and continue to function for me 100%
But the cree replicas unfortunately don't.

Thank you

Just ordered my reverse light, was just wonderimg would it be possible to replace the fog lens with a reverse light lens, saw some posts on the site, i was thinking of a LH drive focus which would have one ... Jim

Turvey

I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong but AFAIK you can change the fog-light for a LHD reverse light and replace the clear bulb with a red one. Sure there's a guide somewhere but can't find it just now

However what some have done is replace the fog light with a clear one AND hacked it a bit to incorporate a fog light and a reverse light  ;) Found the guide for that one.

Stoney871

A left hand drive reverse light is a direct swap for the red fog lens.

The bulb holder is the same.

Add a red Cree bulb and you're set.

Hi jim,
As said you can replace the unit
You can also fit dual reverse lighting,
Click on my aviator picture to view my list of guides,
Click on the tittle to view the guide,
You can download it in PDF if required
angus5041

Thanks to all for the pictures and advice ... Jim ..  I wasnt thinking straight, i just thought .. " i know i will change the lens put a cree reverse light in ,, happy days " Obviously you would have to put some wiring to make the the light work, so i will settle for the cree for the minute and see how it goes,

angus5041

Fitted the Cree and tbh its not much brighter than my old one .. a previous post had mentioned it may be because of the tinted windows . maybe, or after driving in roads with lights and you come to reverse in a dark road your eyes havnt adjust properly .. next job could be to get rid of the fog light  ... Jim

justgotast170

Can say something which may be stupid ?

Why not fit a KA Sport reverse light right in the centre and see what that's like...

Daz, Ducking under the table.

These bulbs created a error in my car. When ever I put the car in reverse the radio would stop, then back in first and radio would work again. Had to put the standard bulb back in. :(

Anyone else had this issue ?

Lmao you driving a Renault?
Weird since the stereo and reverse loom are not connected unless you have a touch screen with reverse camera,
Sure you didn't reverse out of radio reception coverage.
Renault and alpha are notorious for dodgy electrics but on focus even the reverse control loom and stereo control loom run on separate fuse boards
Luke23 tdci
Nope 100% not radio signal. My house never lost signal, never lost signal anywhere with the dab radio. Soon as I took the bulb out it worked fine again. Even happend at different locations.
Stoney871

A dodgy bulb producing sympathetic radio waves?

One signal washing out another.
