Hi all,

I have just after buying a 2008 focus. I've just noticed that there is a gap between the mudguard, surrounding plastic and the wheel arch liner which exposes some of the body allowing mud and grit to get trapped (prob not good for winter). Does anyone know how I could close this gap? or what way this should be?

Welcome to the forum, mine are the same as yours mate, although the rear arches are worse around half an inch of a gap, best thing is to spray WD-40 on it,
as if you fill it with silicone or anything, dirt and water will gather inside of it and rust just the same on the inside,

In the ice, when theirs grit on the road maybe smear some Vaseline on it to combat the salt and sand on the roads,

also if you get a momment look under the footwells in your car, you will see a little grey socket for a parking bulb on both the drivers and passenger side footwells,
try putting a w5w bulb in and tell me if it lights as we all have the sockets but only some have it working.

Any modifications planned ?

I'm just wondering if many other people have the same problem? Seems like it could be a bit of a design flaw.

I was thinking the liner could have just pushed back but maybe thats not the case.

I'm thinking I might take off the front liners (the back ones appear to be OK), clean up behind them and use Hammerite Underbody Seal, used it on one of my old cars before and it worked pretty well.

I'll check out that bulb soon. No real plans for mods, think it's fairly nice the way it is, it has a tow bar so might remove that and maybe upgrade the stereo

Speaking of design flaws click my link below entitled is your focus rusting, <BR>the pipe for the rear wiper jet can rub off the body above the boot panel,<BR>ford put an anti chip film over where its expected to meet the body although mine is in the wrong place and began to rust,

Is that a ST spoiler on yours? looks mint, with the tint and everything very tidy
