Hi I'm new to this site though I have been a Ford owner since the year dot (have had every mark of escort - including a very tasty Escort Sport!) I have now moved on to a Ford Focus LX (55 plate) after owning my last escort (R plate) for 11 years.
In many ways I like the new car though it seems much bigger than the escort - but I can't get truly comfortable driving it (move seat / height and moved steering column up/down in/out - couldn't do that on escort!!) and have come down to the feeling that it is because the steering seems very heavy/stiff in the mid position - I was used to a nice light feel on the escort. Sometimes this does not feel as heavey as others - sometimes my arms ache after only a fairly short drive!
Is this normal - is there a way of making the mid/null position of the steering lighter?
Thanks

Hi and Welcome to the forum.
I don't know of anyway to adjust the steering, when was the last time you had tracking done on your car.

Hi Preee
Thanks for the reply - I have only recently bought the car (Aug 11) from a major Foord Dealer (Dees of Croydon) and they did a full service on the car before I collected it - so I am assuming the tracking was part of that!

Not sure if this is an option on your car, but i found on mine that using the on board computer whilst engine running but at a stand still there was a option to adjust the power steering levels from Sport, Normal & Comfort.. (found the info on this in the owners manual/book)
Maybe if your does its set to sport or something???
Just an idea
