Hi All, my 61 plate Ecoboost 1.6 (150) shows the following fuel consumption after about 2600 miles:
Average fuel: 36.2mpg
Average speed 33mph
I'm a bit disappointed with this. The average speed suggests I spend a lot of time in traffic jams, I don't - the miles I have done to date are about 50:50 motorway and town/country roads. Not quite sure how the average speed is mesaured, it must take into account all the time u are stopped at lights, etc.
Anyway, as I said, I'm disappointed with my MPG - what are others getting with this engine?

Hi Pavr,
Not sure what variant of fuel your using, but you have to bare in mind that you are still running in the engine. on average, I think it takes around 6000 miles before the engine is bedded in properly, some cars vary and take longer, some less.
If your using Petrol, you are not doing too bad to run the car in at that MPG, if your using diesel, then you should notice a gradual improvement with the miles.
Correct me if I am wrong but the Average Speed runs between tanks, not start to end?

Thanks for the reply, I should have said it was a petrol engine.

Hi, I'm only using mine for very short journeys at the moment, about 2 miles or so, it is indicating around 26mpg. I don't think this is too bad really but I will expect it to improve over the mileage, although it's going to take me over a year and half to get 6k...

My last Focus MPG improved the more miles I put on it. The biggest improvement came once it it reached 20k miles. 36mpg from new and taking into account you and the car getting used to one another doesn't sound too bad.

I won't comment on fuel consumption as I drive a Fiesta, but over 19k Miles my Average Speed shows as 28 MPH. It does not reset with each tank of fuel, but since the car was new or the computer gets reset.
My daily drive to work is 10 miles each way, mainly 30 or 40 MPH roads, Motorway speeds are only done by me at weekends or days off.

My Focus eco boost 150 does in the high 30's just about all the time unless i really thrash it - done nearly 6000 miles now
I do a mix of miles, work is only 5 miles away plus other miles at weekend evening etc
just out of interest the other day i set it on cruise at 62mph on the motorway for a couple of hundred miles(it was quiet so i wasn't a road hog before someone says) and the car averaged 48mpg which i think is exceptional. Very boring though, good job it has a good sound system
cheers
Steve
