Hey,

I’ve got a 1998 Escort Encore with the original radio cassette player installed. Its not working as it is blocked and I dont know the keycode for it. Am I able to fit another Ford radio cassette player or does it have to be one from a 1998 Escort Encore. Any help would be appreciated. It would be fantastic if anyone actually has a radio that will fit in and they are looking to sell it.

Welcome to the forum,

you can fit any single Din stereo in to the slot, it doesnt have to be a ford branded stereo feel free to search ebay for a single din stereo mate,

Is your current stereo broken or does it just need a code?

Well it needed a code. My brother used to drive the car and he removed the battery and when he put it back in it asked for the code. He didn’t have the correct so he guessed it, got it wrong too many times and its now blocked. There’s just a whole line of “A” scrolling along. I went to a Ford dealership today and they said there’s nothing i can do. Gotta buy a new radio/cd player.

If there is a secret way i can unblock it that would be great.
