New to all this, hope somebody can help. I have a Mk1 focus with over heating prob. It seems to be speed related, when hitting 65/70 mph. Temp gauge will rise to 3 quarters until i ease off the gas then drop back to half way. Car travels fine at 30/40/50 mph all day long even sitting in traffic Temp will stay the same. I have been told it could be one of many things water pump, radiator, airlock, faulty temp gauge ect, just wanting to no if anybody has had or no of the same prob as can't afford to have it all done really want to narrow it down to a couple things. Just to add I have traveled from Suffolk to mid Wales yesterday and sat at 60 was fine

start by getting the thermostat changed, check the radiator fan is kicking in when the gauge goes up, as you say it could be a number of things.

the easiest soloution is to replace the pump thermostat and coolant and check the engine fan works
