Ah... Thats a point!! I never mentioned!!

I found out yesterday, when i went to clean the bit where the old grille was, that someone has clearly reversed into me in the past.. as the old grille has scratched the paint!!!

Ive had to touch up pen quite a fair bit!! I'll have to get the polish out and cut it back now!!

TDCiST
Well didnt get the chance to go and pick up my vinyl...

Hoping to get it this week sometime and then fit it monday or tuesday...

Time is not being friendly to me right now!
martyntdci
im looking forward to seeing the end result of this. any ideas of doing the boot lip (where the lock is) to match with the front?
TDCiST
I had that thought while driving to work the other day!!

I'm just not sure how it would look...

I am tempted to try and do the bumper diffuser, but that will be a warm day job!! lol

I'll let you know once ive done it and get pics up asap!!
TDCiST
I have the carbon wrap in my hands!!

Well, its in the car, just waiting to get the chance to get the car in the warm at work and ill do it!!
Gavc
Cool, can't wait to see the results mate! ;)
TDCiST
I've got my vinyl kit with me in the car too so it's literally just getting the time and I'll do it!!
TDCiST
Finally, the news youve all been waiting for!!

The Lip is Wrapped!!

Did it quickly so wrapped it on the car, I'm going to get new one and wrap it off the car top get a better result, but this will do for now!

Sorry for the poor quality pictures!
Brigante
lookin good mate

looks mean. much better
Gavc
Looks sweet mate!! ;)

How easy was it to do on the car? Got some carbon wrap today so may try that myself!!
TDCiST
Fairly easy, I cut a strip that was about 6 inches wide, then heated it gently and applied it. I made sure it was firmly stuck then cut the excess with a scalpel. It's a bit of a rush/bodge job but I have plans to either buy a new lip and wrap it or carbon dip it...

But this will do for now!

As long as your careful you'll be ok, I'm waiting to see how long before it peels as its not wrapped round on the top in some places as I couldn't get the credit card down the gap!!

I will take a good pic tomorrow I promise!
TDCiST

A slightly better pic for everyone!

(Only slightly though)

Am going to look at doing the rear one too i think...

Anyone tried fitting a Mondeo MK4 steering into ford focus like this ? Instructions translated using google is a pretty unclear. Just wonder anyone here has done it and could write a guide in english :) Would be awesome to have cruise control and all the fancy buttons for our tdci.

Today was a boring day.....

So I got the carbon vinyl out again!!!

Fairly pleased with the results, next step will be the radio surround and associated centre console plastic!

I may even get the red "S" logo cut in vinyl for the steering wheel...

Preee
Looks great Dave , i'm just being a whimp at the moment and don't want to go out in the cold and do any mods lol
Brigante
Lookin good mate

I still need to get round to carbon dipping all my parts
TDCiST
Haha get out there and do them Preee!!

I had a spare hour while the other half was getting her nails done, carbon wrapped her bonnet lip and the two side bits of the wheel, then did the bottom one when I got back...

Was gonna wash the car but it's almost freezing here already and don't wanna create the ice rink lol!

So I'm open to carbon wrapping ideas, centre console is definitely one, thought about rear boot lip, not sure though..
salsheikh
what about your mirrors, outer grill trim, roof? forget that, when you doing the honeycombe grill?
i spoke to a chap on stoc forum and he does this for others and charges £60 for the conversion, he said he uses strong superglue and a few coats of paint to cover up and super glue marks. get busy!
Brigante
What sal says! ;)

The girlfriend wants me to do her chrome grill surround next... That's a lot of vinyl tho! Lol
TDCiST
I had the unfortunate luck of having a headlight go the other night, been replaced with halfords ultra brilliance lamps.

Always had good luck with the halfords ones, I've heard a few horror stories of lasting 3 months etc but I've clearly been lucky

Also I have a confession...... See below :(

Stoney871

OOH So Dirty.

For future reference mate, this is the end you point at the car to make the dirt go away  :p ;)

salsheikh

Dave, you naught naughty boy. Go and wash the car at once!

TDCiST

Hopefully tomorrow will be car washing day!

Brigante

Do mine for me while your at it!  ;)

TDCiST

Brigante

can come n collect it if you want, drop it off when your finished :P

Gavc
Has nobody written " I wish my girlfriend was this dirty" on the back yet?? Lol ;)
TDCiST

all the guys at work know that they would end up in the work skip in tiny pieces if anyone wrote in the dirt on my car...

Gavc
Lol!!! :)
TDCiST
Car washed!

For those who have asked in the past, here's a little comparison of pre and post snow foam on the car.

Pre Snowfoam

Post Snowfoam and Jetwash to remove foam and surface debris

So as you can see, Snowfoam loosens the top layer of grime and muck, mine is a fairly gentle foam too, more aggressive ones may remove more.

And here's what you should expect to see after the rinse off!

Stoney871

Has nobody written " I wish my girlfriend was this dirty" on the back yet?? Lol ;)

Usually around here the phrase used is "Don't clean me, just plant something" :p

TDCiST
Typically the rain and road grime has covered the car already again!! Great!!
Brigante
Snap :(
Stoney871
My car is covered in all manner of muck at the moment, mostly diesel residue and bird muck.
Washed it this evening and it's already rotten again.
Waste of time and effort at this time of year.
TDCiST

Well thanks to a construction lorry, I have just had to fork out £75 for a windscreen...

The resulting chip was slightly too big to repair.

Here's some pics for a giggle!!

Stoney871
Typical.
Hope you got the company details.
TDCiST

Sadly no, Also i can't be sure it was the load in the back or just some detritus from the road that chipped it...

Brigante
Ouch mate sorry to see that

I hate lorries :(

You saw what one done to my poor car didn't you?
TDCiST
Yeah that was terrible!!
