Anyone know what wiring adapters are needed to put the above parrot into my LX focus?

Merry Christmas,

Hallfords should have an Iso kit for the focus to fit the parrot system, and the Carrickmines store is usually very helpful if your near that area, it my local store and i live in co.wexford

if you ask the sound area for this part they will know what your talking about, will cost no more than 20-30euro and you just need to wire the blue cable from it to an ignition feed in the car,

the convertor works by inplug the loom from the rear of your stereo and replace with the convertor lead,

then plug the original plug for the stereo in to the other end of the new lead,

it filters the connection and leaves a third plug which goes in to the blue box of the parrot system, and the MKi9100 and Mki9200 are fantastic systems

also, when you say they'll have an iso kit..

does the focus stereo have a non iso connector and the parrot has an iso connector? that's what I think i understand..?

If you contact Parrot via their website they will tell you which iso connector you need.

I have a Ck3100 unit fitted in my car and the microphone cable was run up the windscreen pillar and the mic cable comes out between the courtesy light and it's housing.

You just need to remove the pillar fascia and pull the roof lining away from the windscreen trim to run the cable.
If you'd rather not do that then Parrot do a mount for the dash which will hold the control head and the microphone in one place.
Better still pay Halfords to fit it.
A few quid will save you the hassle.

Would prefer the mic up top tbh.

I'm half tempted to get halfords to fit it, but just wonder about their ability to fit it well.. Is it no just any old joe who got a job there given the task of fitting it?

I think they have to have a reasonable ability or else they wouldn't be the ones doing it.
At least if they nack it up they have to put it right.


Other option is to find a friendly auto electrician who is happy to do it.

They tend to charge less than garages.
It's not too hard to fit you just have to be patient and be prepared to move stuff around to run the cables.

The physical bits don't bother me, it's the actual electrical wiring which gets me a bit. I might try it and if needs be I can get them to fit it after

This is true! I'll whip out the stereo in the morning, see what we've got and go from there once I look at the unit.

Generally is there much trim removal to wire the mic up to the roof? I know about the A pillar but what else?

A pillar, top joint and roof lining.
Light fitting and surround to pass the cable through.
I'll post a pic of the mic placement when light enough to do so.
More fiddly than anything else.
Head unit cable comes out between radio fascia and dash.
I stuck the head unit to the radio with sticky pads rather than using a bracket as i had a tendency to catch it and knock it every time i went for the indicators.
You could try Brodit for mounts if you want it to look more professional.

If you're worried about a switched ignition source then you could buy a Piggy back blade fuse connector. This will allow you to tap into the fusebox without splicing any wires.

thanks folks.

just looked at getting the stereo out, only have two keys from a sony stereo and halfords charge a fortune for a few bits of metal. have the two in which won't move at all but don't have anything for the top..

might have to buy the extortionate ones in halfords later

decided to go with halfords fitting, had a 20% discount and would have had to buy the keys so not to bad.

they are fitting it 12:30 on thursday so can't wait

I got the connector I linked to above, I found a UK company selling a kit that had a connector that fitted mondeos 2003 and on plus my focus and a few other cars, so that lead has to fit.

will update thursday

ive had halfords fit one in the wifes car for me before and im very perticular on positioning etc.
so before he started the job i handed him 20euro and told him ''i am very perticular and if you dont mind could it be done exactly where i want it?''

he said yes no problem, and had plenty of patience with me, so their good at fitting the stuff too,

Ok so I looked at all the wires and the instructions etc and decided it wasn't half as bad as I thought. So I went at it this morning and low and behold its fully installed.

Really pleased with it and working well. Went for a drive and noticed that when using the radio etc, the controls attached to behind the steering wheel don't work.

I've no idea why this is as there is only one connector to the back of the radio and everything else is working fine. There is an adapter to change it to ISO if that could make a difference....
