Hi guys, i'm seriously hoping someone can help me, I recently lost my one and only key for my ford ranger, i went to the dealer with my log book, proof of identity hoping it would be a simple case of them ordering in a cut key and programming the chip.......hell no!!!! Too be fair i have little faith in my local dealership due to past experiences.....anyhow, they are telling me they need the key code from the barrel before ordering a new key, saying they would need to disassemble to find it? and that it would be possibly easier and cheaper to order a new barrel and lock kit.....he said as the ranger is a mazda badged a ranger, its not straight forward to order a new key, and cant be done simply using the vin number???? surely this is rubbish????

Auto locksmiths can usually read locks for you.
They have tools that they use that can open any car and can start them.
They'll sort you out a key with no problem.
