HI THERE,I AM THINKING OF GETTING MY DPF REMOVED ON MY 1.6 TDCI 06 PLATE BEEN QUOTED £400 INCLUDING A REMAP,BEFORE I GET IT DONE HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS DONE AND HAVE YOU HAD ANY PROBLEMS,CHEERS.

the only problem with removing the dpf is under new m.o.t rules your car will fail.

Hi just googled dpf and mot and a guy on the alfa romeo site has just passed the mot with his removed apparentlt the cat is now part of the mot not the dpf .had mine removed just waiting to have the remap done but i,ve got other issues to sort with the car first before i get the ecu re mapped but it,s seems miles better without than when i purchased the car with problems bargain price £1000 for a 55 plate 2.0 tdci smokey engine(black smoke) but bulk of that was air filter getting the injectors cleaned this week for a ton then a remap.but i,ll keep you posted how i get on how and by the way my local mot station removed the dpf and said nowt about mot regulations ref removal .

there is a place in Hinckley that does this but they empty the DPF canister or replace it with an empty box and map your car - R-Tech. I know Nick and he's really good at mapping cars etc and writes his own codes. Give him a call, he also knows someone that can help with MOT's too.

Just be careful if you go down this road, its frowned upon heavily by the DfT and VOSA.

Isn't the dpf an integral part of the catalytic converter on the1.6 TDCI !!

alz, its technically not, it just helps to clean out the cack even more, it can be bypassed, and apparently the correct remap can reduce the emissions as significantly as the DPF would...

Thanks. I emailed R-Tech this morning just waiting on a reply.

Cat and dpf are in the same unit on Fords, you have to actualy cut the enclosure, get the ceramic dpf filter out, and then wel the enclosure back, leaving only the cat inside. You could also get a cat only unit fitted. Remap is not always the best solution but it is a solution , i used anothe one (emulated dpf, removed ceramic).
